Community Support Services Friendly Visiting | Telephone Assurance Program Community Support Programs provide services that promote independence for the older adult especially
those who are homebound and frail.
Older adults are visited by caring volunteers on a regular basis. If you would like to be matched with or be a Friendly Visitor, please contact the Community Support Co-ordinator at (519)254-1108.
T.A.P is a service providing assurance through regular phone calls. Participants make a commitment to make or receive one phone call each day. Contact the Community Support Coordinator at (519)245-1108 to register for this free service.
Basic footcare is provided by Professional Nurses with Basic and Advanced Foot Care Certification who bathe the feet, trim nails and treat corns and calluses. Footcare Clinics are offered at McEwan Avenue Centre, Edward Street Centre, St. John's Parish Hall and the Jewish Community Centre. For the first appointment, the fee of $21 for Members and $26 for Non-Members includes a thorough assessment of the individual's feet and general health. Then appointments are $16 for Members and $22 for Non-Members. **Footcare is also provided at Central Park Lodge, Huron Lodge Home for the Aged, Oak Park Lakeshore and Sunrise Assisted Living for a flat fee.
This service provides transportation to medical appointments, banking, shopping, social activities and more. Advance booking is required. There are two options:
